I messaged TDK about this question: Here is my question and their reply: "Question/Comment: I have some TDK CD-Rs which are silver coloured on the backside, which would indicate that they are using phthalocyanine as the recording dye, but your FAQ states that TDK uses cyanine, which is blue. Could you confirm for me which dye is used in TDK CDs? Thanks! Reply: The clear/silvery colored discs do use pthalocyanine dyes. The FAQ is a bit antiquated.
