Veli,
If you are referring to artist's attitudes about posterity - artists I
know (besides up-tight photographers) seem to apply different standards
of permanence to each work. Above all,  the owner of the work has a
responsibility to preserve whatever medium is used.  I have many pieces
that I know must not be displayed in bright light, high humidity, and
where they can be eaten by vermin.

Installation artists can make mementos of the work to sell to finance
their activities - Cristo is a notable example in the news
