The image quality of the D70 is very very good, even when pushed at 1600. (look at attached fragment of picture Medium jpg)
There is some noise but is not bad.
The size of a RAW image is about 5MB by the way, so a 512 MB card or bigger is a must.


Oh yeah, the D70 doesn't have BW mode

A good friend shoots fashion, goes to People and similar magazines through a wire agency. He prefers the D70 to the D100, both of which he carries to events, says the images have better quality with the D70 and it has better ergonomics. He hasn't had any reliability issues with it in a very tough environment. He's doing 2,000+ shots a week, so he's in a good position to judge.
