And I mean that in the nicest way. Ah gee, I'd like to have some of my shots hanging in the local cafe, wonder if he'll put them up for less than a hundred bucks a week? Hmmm, makes you wonder. I guess none of the photographers showing actually have any reputation or experience, and there's plenty of them around these days, with the digital ease of cranking out good looking images, right Bob? I'll have to get out more, but the last exhibition I saw was in Tokyo at a pretty famous 'artsy' gallery. They had work by a so called master, forget his name, but let's just say he sells well, has an agent, and is pretty well to do. I just didn't get it - to me all the images looked, well they looked weak and normal all around. Nothing to get excited about, made me wonder why I'm not in demand and rich too. Maybe I need a good agent. I also saw a bunch of stuff by students and other young Tokyo hippies that made me sick. Well, not sick but it made me wonder why any of them bothered printing what they had shot. You know the genre, mix of crude black and white multi exposure, solarized, you name it all over the place images of young people screaming or crying or flying. Stuff looked like graffiti. Oh well, we all had to start somewhere. So seeing a really great exhibition of incredible images would be a real treat. Maybe the way to see one is to ask if the photographers had to pay to be shown. -- Jim Davis, Nature Photography, http://easternbeaver.com/ Motorcycle Relay Kits
