The PhotoForum members' gallery/exhibit space was updated DEC 04 04. Authors with work now on display at http://www.rit.edu/~andpph/gallery.html include:
Dan Mitchell - Waiting
Well, that is confusing. There's this brilliant red object in the correct position in the thumbnail to be the thing that's waiting. Imagine my surprise to discover that it wasn't. And I really can't tell what it is, to boot. And the person who's waiting looks kinda at rest.
Christopher Strevens - Even Escalators are beautiful in our town
Yeah, OK. And patterns like that are fun, too.
Gregory david Stempel - Heidi
Oh dear. We have the same problems here. On my monitor the red lights didn't. But I like the composition, the angle of view, the late dusk, the balance between the sky and hull.
Rich Mason -
A state and a half south of Gregory, this boat sits in a town that I will always connect with the most superior alcoholic truffles I've ever tasted. The only thing I'm struggling with about the image is the point blankness of it. Look-ee. Here's a boat. And Here's a reflection of it. OK. How about something less matter-of-fact, more directional for the eye to follow. The image has no movement and it could still be a night portrait and reflection and lead my eye somewhere.
David Small - On the bus
Damn. Not sharp. Kinda unsympathetic. I think I would prefer it from a lower angle, not looking down on the guy. His scruffiness and the angle combine to make me feel judgemental. Sometimes it's the image you show that gets you the permission, or the denial.
Jim Davis - Late Evening Fishing
Well, it sure is difficult to separate who's fishing from the background. Sidelight, get up much higher so the water's behind the head, shallow depth of field. Something to make us see the face.
Leslie Spurlock - Caring for Flood Victims
How I wish both eyes were looking straight at me, and with something other than matter-of-factness. This does not look like a scared, damaged, or even concerned child and the "victim" element would be palpable if it did. She looks like a well dressed, intact, well shod kid, to boot, so I'm not feeling the victimhood that we understand to have come from the mudslides and flooding at Gonaive.
Laurenz Bobke - Bird Protest
Cut the sign off before the trees on the right conflict with the bird and that would be plenty. A third too much on the right side. And don't feed that redwing, you hear me!
Thanks to all always. Such a great resource we have here. What would we do without Andy.....
