I've just received the following heart-wrenching news this morning. Dean has been a dear friend and an important mentor in my life. I'm sure that those of you who know him will want to pass this on to all those you know who have been so influenced by Dean, one of the greatest teachers our photographic industry has known. Please pray for him and for his family.

Hello,
I'm sitting at Deans computer (I am Lance Hill - a close friend of
Deans from Minnesota) and writing for Deans wife Linda. We wanted to
let you know Dean is in the hospital and has been told his cancer has
spread and it is not curable. We thought this might be the best way to
reach some of you folks we felt might want to know. He was admitted
with trouble breathing and recent scans show the cancer has spread
throughout his system. He is quite heavily sedated with morphine to
help manage the pain. It is unlikely he will be going home from the
hospital. He is staying at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.
Keep him in your prayers please.
