Look guys. This is a paying gig, the way it was described. Please
don't get into the idea of doing it for nothing because you will make
it impossible for any other photographer to ever get it as a job, and
because it is going to be one helluva job to do. The photography
crew is going to be exhausted when the evening is over, the chief
photog is going to be on edge worrying about whether everything is
coming out right, the rental equipment is going to turn out to have
been totally necessary and managing the reprint accounts will be a
total pain in the butt. Just the formal award shots alone will
require at least a light and a reflector to get the light even and
the skin tones accurate. Doing it wrong on site will cause the
photog to spend hours correcting files.
500 people is a 5-ring circus which requires real professionalism to
pull off and most of those people will not have the slightest
interest in buying prints.
