That style was enormously popular in Europe in years gone by when people found themselves housebound over long winters - I saw a silhouetted mountainscape done this way once where the photographer/artist had made the 'mountain' out of a sheet of cardboard, stuck little figures on and joined them together with cotton thread to create the climbing scene. The background was painted and very beautifully illuminated and it VERY much looked like the real thing! I love that stuff, where the photographer creates the image from scratch :-) nice one Greg k
