The Rebel is rather crippled. No mirror lockup, no manual selection of
AF mode, etc. I would not suggest it for a photo class.

I think it rather depends on the level of student you're teaching....
Mirror lock-up? I've never found the need for it yet in nearly 20 years of teaching basic photography to 16-19 year olds!


And you also have to consider cost - if the school can't afford it then the students can't either!

And my school certainly can't.
