Photographs should be protected from contact with the glass by a mat.
With no difficulty at all the emulsion will adhere to the glass and
be impossible to remove later. If you wish to have a white border of
the photo paper inside the mat, that's your preference.
If your vision of the image involves only a cropped version, show
that. If you like the full negative, show that. there are no rules
except the intention of the photographer.
Some people regard the matting and framing as part of the work and
strive to completely integrate the components. Some stick to the
classic black frame no matter what. Wooden frames can be a pain in
the butt to assemble, and don't waste time cutting them.
