This strategy is easy to emulate: take all your pictures with the normal-sensor camera held at 45 degrees - then you can interpolate up - the way Fuji do.

In fact, maybe we have the way to generate infinite detail: interpolate up, rotate 45degree in PS, interpolate up, rotate 45degree in PS, interpolate up .........

OK, maybe the photos are good: as a user though I would be miffed at meeding 12MPx worth of storage to save 6MPx worth of information.  Alchemists have indeed turned base metal (lead) into gold, but they have still to work out how to create real information where none existed ....
