That was before I was following digital closely; what one megapixel
models did Nikon make?

Nikon Coolpix 900. It was a very nice camera for 1998 and in fact could make quite good 8X10-inch prints. The best Coolpix print was not as nice as the best 35mm prints but I've seen a ton of 35mm 8X10's that were worse.


I still use a Kodak DC-260 for a backup and loaner. It can make 8X12 prints I'm not ashamed to show.
