While this position opening has been posted in the past the search is probably 
going to be reopened ... so here it is again as sort of a "heads up" ahead of
an official announcement.

STARTING DATE: Fall 2004 or earlier if possible. 

DESCRIPTION: The internationally recognized School of Photographic Arts and
Sciences (SPAS) offers six undergraduate degree programs and one graduate
program in the study of the photographic arts, as well as the applied sciences.
There are more than 700 students enrolled in degree programs in the School.
SPAS is part of RIT9s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The college also
includes the School of Print Media, the School of Design, the School of Art,
the School of Film and Animation, and the School for American Crafts.

It is expected that the candidate will become a leading resource to
students and faculty in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, the IPT
Department, as well as the imaging industry, in the area of applied scientific
and technical photography and imaging, including topics in applied physics,
optics and chemistry, as these concern photography including electronic
imaging. The successful candidate is expected to become an integral part of a
team within the Imaging and Photographic Technology Department that is
primarily charged with the responsibility for delivering what is considered to
be a key course within the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, namely,
the Materials and Processes of Photography course. With time, it is expected
the candidate with move into a leadership position as far as the organization,
supervision and delivery of the course. Additionally, it is expected he or she
will deliver another course each quarter plus contribute to the development of
new courses in applied technical and scientific photography.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: MS in a physical science discipline such as applied photography,
optics, physics or related disciplines. A background demonstrated through
publications, professional presentations and/or previous teaching experience of
an interest and expertise in the afore mentioned disciplines. Ph.D. preferred.
Candidates for this position must have demonstrated experience in the general
field of:
Applied, Scientific and Technical photography along with programming skills,
such as C or C++ and Mat Lab and expertise with the imaging toolbox. Skill
with IDL and other imaging processing software a plus. 
Ability to utilize and teach computer programming for imaging.
An interest to contribute to the mission of the Imaging and Photographic
Technology program specifically, and to that of the School of Photographic Arts
and Sciences in general.

SALARY: Commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience.
