Sure, but the Mac has many image management apps available, too.
iView Media Pro, DataMechanic and Image Info Toolkit, as well as the
software that comes with the digital cameras, and the new management
section of Photoshop CS all do all of the things that irfanview does.
And you get freedom from a counterintuitive operating system and
immunity to viruses and worms. No incessant upgrading of virus
checking programs, no waiting while they run and no slowdowns if you
get negligant about keeping up with that seems like a good deal to me.
What a shame your friend didn't do a little research before he wasted
money on another computer and spent much time networking his new
purchase.
