Could you adjust the tones in a scanned version of the negative so it will print on similarly to the original print tone scale. This would take a lot of effort and you might have to adjust the on screen image so it looks funny so it prints on current technology to look right.
Of course it would be easier to find someone with a pack of the paper still sitting in his lab and with some experimentation and some anti fog chemical produce the print.
Or get a 22 rifle and shoot all the squirrel in your area (g)
