Well, first you calibrate your monitor. Then you locate the profiles for your printer. Then you

In photoshop you can start with Cmd-L or on a Gatesmobile Ctrl-L. There you will find a choice between correcting all three color channels at once, mostly for brightness, or correcting them one by one - R, G and B.

Spend a few weeks futzing with that dialog and trying out printing out the results and come back to us for more info.

Save each version as you go, otherwise you can't go back to something that was better after you've changed it.

And keep notes of everything you do, in case you change your mind or want to reconstruct it.

And never overwrite your original scan or digital capture.

And go to the library and take out one or more books on the subject - I like the QuickStart guides for a newbie, but others on this list will have many opinions.
