To members of the community of photographers, artists, curators, teachers, and others, There is currently a big problem at the New School in New York City: The darkroom on the 5th Floor of 66 West 12th Street is scheduled for demolition on June 1st. This is a darkroom that has hosted such teachers as Berenice Abbott and Diane Arbus. Besides its historical value, the darkroom sets the foundation for the whole photography program at the New School. Therefore, the New School photography teachers are reaching out to the photography and film world to ask help with a campaign called "Save the Darkroom."
