Yes.


I find that there is far less noise (grain) with digital than with film at similar ISO. However, when going to higher ISO where noise is significant (>200 with a digicam, >800 with dSLR), the noise is subjectively uglier than grain. So there's a tradeoff of amount vs "ugliness" at a given ISO. My solution is to use the well-hidden "Film Grain" filter in Photoshop CS to "mask" the noise. This actually works quite well
