Dan Mitchell, Denver Reading Room: Interesting play of surfaces and colours; one only wishes to see how the building really looks (but wishing for more is a common reaction when seeing a good pic). The roof is hardly of 1903 vintage, but this doesn´t ruin the picture in any way.

Achal Paschine, Fashion show Model: A professional job, both from the photographer and the model. Can´t find faults with this one.

Pini Vollach, Gazebo: Beautiful; one wants to sit down for a quiet and philosophical beer. We have lots of places like this in Sweden too, in the parks of various mansions, but this one is a beauty.

Jim Davis, Mating Flush: Another one of Jim´s excellent bird portraits. Always a pleasure to see (and surely a lot of work to get).

Peeter Vissak, Annection: I´m one of these crazy people who actually likes snakes (hopefully having some common sense with poisonous ones), so my reaction may not be typical; I think he (she) is cute... Probably that wheel was warm, so the snake liked it.

Jeff Spirer, Illusion: An enigmatic picture (should be, with such a title). The structure of the worn wood is lovely (possibly less so if that shack is your only shelter), and the kids seem to be just transients.

Trevor Cunningham, Minarets and Mirrors: Very good! Your problem with focus and apparent distance is a common one, but obviously you´ve solved it (a mirror image is a virtual one, placed at the same distance behind the mirror as the distance between the mirror and the mirrrored object in front of it).

W R Gill, Strip Mall: Well, this is where I had one of the best swordfish dinners I´ve ever had, going north after two days at Pt Lobos, so of course i like it a lot... Seriously, I like this pic; it is a garish place, but the image is quite harmonious and well composed.

Jimmy Harris, Barrels: My only problem with this one is that the rider´s head gets mixed up with the fence, but I can´t really see how this could have been avoided. Not much in the way of action and flying mud, but I understand the rider was very young. The placement of the instructor and he horse is excellent.

C J R Strevens, New life: At first, it looks like one of those wishful snaps with a camera that doesn´t focus as close as its owner, but this one is more sophisticated; the composition is impeccable and nature´s chaos is very much under control. The sapling and grass could have been sharper, but the light puts emphasis where it should be.

Maris V Lidaka, Ferris Wheel: A surrealistic labyrinth of steel, almost frightening (but then I´ve been scared stiff the few times I´v been in a Ferris wheel). This one would benefit from less exposure; the highlights are burned-out.
