Rand, Much as I like ol' Dave's writing and technical info, I have to say that his pictures bore the pants off me. Of course some of my pictures that I really am interested in operate more on an intellectual level than artistic or aesthetic. One theory about cutting-edgy-ness in art is that it has to annoy. I don't mean to say that artists should even think about that. Once a kind of art becomes commonplace then another new thing has to come along. This is cyclical and old stuff has to come back and get people all aroused again since really new things are rare. AZ Build a Lookaround! The Lookaround Book, 2nd ed.
