I believe that it ranks at the top of the list with any standard advertising you do. There are two ways to look at it: 1) I only got a few sales from the web site last year. I don't think it's worth it. 2) Wow! I got a few sales from my web site last year that I wouldn't have had it I didn't have the web site! A web site, today, is like a business card. It's not a question of whether or not you need one. It's only a question of how big, extensive, inclusive or whatever you need. You can get a free hosting account in many places and use it as a place to showcase some of your work, contain basic contact information and what not. You've lost nothing more than the time it took to create it, and if you don't rely on it for a large portion of your sales then you don't need to spend a lot of time updating it. I use mine as a major marketing asset to my business. The vast majority of my contacts are made online, and most of my work (including submissions, invoicing, etc) are done online as well. Others prefer to use more traditional methods that work well for them ~G~ Regards, Gavyn Aaron Photographer/Artist OutBC Productions (Ph) 832-794-1671 (E-Mail) GavynAaron@xxxxxxxxx (Web Site) http://www.OutBC.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gregory Stempel" <fyrframe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "List for Photo/Imaging Educators - Professionals - Students" <photoforum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2004 3:45 AM Subject: Re: On the Road > Hi Gavyn, > > The word "best" wasn't really the issue, I have contacts who have seen more > action from their yellow page ad, than their website.
