I hope you all catch this subject line before reading earlier postings
including HI as the subject line. This was probably sent by a bona-fide list
subscriber who thought the spam material was sent by this list's server.

Probably as a result of someone spamming its address so that person thought it
was the listserver sending the message. By sending it back as an attachment the
sever identified the sender as a legitimate sender and allowed the spam
through. I am not sure what it is or what it does. 

I would hope that no legitimate list memebr would send spam or a bug on purpose
to the list. We have installed a confirmation requirement to the subscription
process in hopes of eliminating unscrupulous subscriptions. However, automatic
subscription procedures can be compromised. 
                                                           
I will investigate what happened and report back if I find out anything useful.
