I started on the clarinet when I was in the 4th grade. Progressed to the alto and baritone saxes in junior high, and added the tenor sax and bassoon in high school. Added the flute when I was in the army. The only woodwinds I never got to were the oboe and the English horn. During my last year of high school, I started playing the guitar, which became my primary instrument thereafter. I went on to study classical guitar at the Mannes College of Music and jazz guitar with various top NY jazz guitarists. While in college, since I majored in music as an undergraduate, I also picked up a little piano, trumpet, tuba, and violin, (ut I hesitate to say I "played" any of them (although I could muddle my way through some Bach Inventions and some George Shearing arrangements on piano). These days I rarely get to play much af anything anymore, but I'm looking forward to getting back into guitar and piano when (IF) I get to retire in a few years.
