Hypersensitizing is the way to go. If you do not wish to purchase a complete hyper kit you will find astrophotogrphy sites selling hypered film, or check out 'Sky & Telescope' magazine.
 
I regularly rated Tmax 3200 @ 6400 deved in tmax 1-5 for ten mins. for an exhibition I about a day in the life of a pub/bar. I printed the resulting 35mm film on colour paper at 30x40 inches and the results were so good they are still hanging in the art gallery. Fast lens helps.
