I just flashed the pictures, and this is what I grasped: IMHO, the biggest problem with this photos is the lack of contrast, followed very closely by an overall wrong combination of colors (the subject is in the "cool" range, so maybe a dominance of blue or gray would have helped). I would suggest that, additionally, you try a bit wider shots, to get body expressions (ie: hands, inclination...)
