I could post a very similar shot of a grey heron which, for me, has the same unappealing light. It didn't have th lovely reflection of your shot of course. Oh, re my comment about lack of critical focus on the eye/beak. Jim sent me a high-res excerpt and indeed it did appear to be reasonably well focussed (much better than the gallery version would suggest). There was however a brittle nature about the (high-res) file. Maybe it was jpeggery, maybe oversharpening. Without the original Canon RAW file who knows. Bottom line: what we see in the gallery is often a pale imitation of the work the author intends us to see. I can't make allowances while reviewing, but the fact remains. Bob
