It's not a matter of asking for credit. You don't publish without
credit and if they do it wrong, you get 3x the space rate, too.
Think of yourself as a seller, not a offerer. It's your skill, your
product, your price. You tell them what it will cost to have you do
their piddling job, they don't tell you. You're the seller here.
Do you go into Wal*Mart and tell them what you'll pay for their
potato chips? No. Do you go to the car repair place and tell them
what you'll pay for their labor and parts? No. Do you go into a
bookstore and tell them what you'll pay them for a book? No.
Set your prices and seek the buyers who will pay them.
Whatever this job is, $200 is too low. The skinflint lifestyle
magazine here tries to get away with $400. My best sailing magazine
pays $750 for a cover.
