A woman on a jewelry dealers email list recently saw images from her website placed into an Ebay auction for a very rare item.
What had occurred was that once a thief has a persons Ebay password ,he uses the persons ID and high positive feedback to post a ficticious auction for high dollar items which arent actually in the thieves possession.
He copies pictures and descriptions of rare and expensive items from websites into the auction.
After the thief is paid for the item ,he doesnt deliver anything. The person whose Ebay account was used for the sale is suspected of thievery and their reputation is soiled.
