The Nude

If I may, a couple of other questions;

Why is it when the nude is female, and the setting has a bed or couch in it,
the nude invariably placed on that bed instead of standing above it? Or, why
are nudes depicted only in traditional stances?

Remember Minor White? Look at the photograph "Portland, 1940" a male nude in
a more provocative pose, but the pose is in affected intended to suggest a
female role, not as homosexuality but in terms of placing that subject on
equal terms sexually.
