Luis IMO the "History of Photography" starts well before the Photographic process. The Camera Obscura (obviously), art, perspective as a foundation. More directly, the huge wave of "Magic Lantern" slides / shows that preceded it. Photography did not evolve in a vacuum: largely it started out as a quick/accurate way of doing what could already be done with skill and patience. Of course it has long science transcended that - indeed some artists are now producing paintings to emulate bokeh and motion blur in oils - Oh, the first ever photogram was produced in Rome when Emperor Nero left his bicycle lying on the lawn: what else is that yellow pattern on a green background ...
