Did you stick your finger in the air to arrive at this number? > Thats 5 billion people who disagree with the US. Bull, most of the people in the world are entirely unaware that there is a war. > Its apparent to the rest > of the world that the US is invading to control Iraq's oil > resources. This is nonsense and entirely without foundation. Over more than a century, the US has been in a number of wars as has much of the world. With the exception of Vietnam, we and those we were allied with have been generally successful. In none of these wars, including wars where the opponents surrendered unconditionally, did the US take anything from those nations, nor did the US control them or their resources. In general the US spilled it's blood to free or liberate nations and spent it's treasure to help rebuild them as is the general US custom. The US then left these nations to allow them to be whomever they wanted to be. As proof that the nations that were liberated or conquered are not US controlled, several of them (one for many years) have nothing but public vile for the US, opposing them at most every turn. This occurs without any retribution. The US will keep order until the new Iraqi government is established and then the US will leave as it always does. That nation and it's resources will be as free of the US control as France, Belgum, Germany, Italy and Japan. If there is a US presence on their soil, then it's by the permission of their governments (which can be revoked at any time) and the land is rented. By what example of past behavior, or present evidence do folks justify this slander? (Yesterday I read that its also the regions water that we want to > control) Are you saying that the US is short of water and wants it pumped back to the US, or is this a claim that the reason the US would want the water is to use thirst and starvation to control the Middle East? By what example of past behavior, or present evidence do folks like you justify this slander? > Something has caused US opinion to be convinced that they are doing the > right thing.Only one point of view is being portrayed in the US media. The > news bias is imposed by mass media which are owned by a few powerful wealthy > corporations. Exactly what is it that we in the US did not hear? What did we hear that is not true? We have heard everything that the French, Flemish, Germans, Russians and Chinese have to say. We are aware that France, Belgum and Germany believe they ARE Europe. We who support this war reject their arguments. We are also aware that the former Iraqi government owes these nations tens of billions of US equivallent dollars ($66 billion in the case of France). Further, the US will uncover the various arsenals of Saddam's armies and other military related strategic materials. Much of this will be less than 12 years old. I'm sure we'll find the marks of several of these nations on much of this - and so do they. The US could accuse these these nations of forming and fermenting their opinion of the war based on fear of the loss of billions of dollars and a desire to keep their violations quiet. The US has not done this. > I urge anyone interested in the current state of the US media to read or see > the film "Manufacturing Consent" by Noam Chomsky. > KenK
