Digital is becoming a great tool for photography BUT the one thing it ain't doing is improving the photographs.  

Sure it's fast
But by god it's expensive (unless you're a pro taking hundreds of "rolls" per year).

It really depends on whether you look at the whole picture.
Whatever you buy for a computer these days (and that includes by definition cameras) you can be damned sure it will have to be replaced in 4y - compare that to a 25-y old film camera which can be as good today as it ever was.   It's not that the equipment stops, but the support sure does.


"Upgradeitis" is a serious disease: it hits your pocket.  Or maybe it is the inevitable cost of progress.
