I wonder why you bother to "kill" the modeling light for the shot..........
I find it annoying to work in the studio in the
dark.........The 60 watt can't contribute much to the
flash exposure (@ 1/30th sec?)..........I think I'd
add a single sheet/loop of diffusion (Rosco/Tough)
over the front of the combination unit.........to
combine the highlights and spread the light a
little.....

Wonder the same - the little old Elinchrom 11 I picked up the other day for peanuts doesn't kill the modelling lamp. Neither does my Hensel 500, even on one-eighth power.
