Bus 58: This photograph is an interesting commentary on life. The one gentleman is reading the newspaper to see what has happened, while life whirls by outside the windows. This is truly life. It goes by so fast that the only way we can keep up is to see what happened yesterday. Greg Fraser
'39 Chevy: Nice textures - and they were a surprise. When I think of a car, I think of smooth, shiny, sleek. The textures of the rusting metal was not what I was expecting. Well framed and composed for a nice design. Lausanne, Place de l'Europe, October 2002: It's strange how every
person in the photograph is alone. Another commentary on life. This
photograph reminds me of the line, "We are for the most part more lonely when we
go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers." (Henry David
Thoreau)
Scott Thurmond
Waterlilies: I think I would have liked the straight black and white for this photograph better, but that's my prejudice. The title, "Waterlilies," makes me think of quiet and peace. The red and yellow is kind of jarring. I like the reflections of the grasses in the water and this image is composed very well. Milko Chua
A very nice photograph. I'll never understand reflections in water and how they work. The building is so far away, yet there is a reflection of a portion of it in a puddle, which - by the way - is positioned flat on the earth and faces the sky. I know it has something to do with where the photographer is standing and angles, etc., but I still find it fascinating. This photograph has a very rustic look to it. Very nice. Andrey Ivanitsky
Piccadilly Circus: Wow! This is colorful, interesting and exciting. I wish I was there in the midst of everything that is happening. Deen Hameed
ibex: The one ibex appears to be smiling for the camera (the other one - it's hard to tell). These are beautiful animals. John Lee
Hop Hop: I looked at the gallery yesterday, quickly, just before leaving the house and I had to respond to John's photograph. I'll just paraphrase what I said to John for his review - This is a precious photograph. I love it! Rabbits are among my favorite animals. Photographically-wise, you managed to catch wonderful detail in Buttercup's fur and a sparkle in her eye. Great job. Christopher Strevens
Don't go to Sea, Daddy!: In order for the title to work, I'd like to see the boys' faces or see the father and boys' eyes connecting. Without the title, instead of the sad feel the title conveys, I see an exciting adventure beginning in two boys looking at a bright red boat while a man prepares to go to sea. (Maybe the title "Daddy, can I go with you?" would make me happier.)There is a lot of potential in a scene like this. This week's gallery is interesting and I enjoyed
viewing it. Thank you to all who participated, and thank you Andy and
staff for your work in presenting it.
