>From page 199 of "The Complete Nikon System: An Illustrated Equipment Guide" by Peter Braczko, re. the micro Nikkor 105 mm f/4: "In 1977, the slightly improved AI version came on the marlet, and it can be identified by its chrome locking screw for the focus, which makes it easier to use this lens in a vertical position on a reproduction unit. The first serial number of this version is 186956, although lower serial numbers are possible." -----Original Message----- From: José Luiz <jlvasconcellos@infolink.com.br> To: List for Photo/Imaging Educators - Professionals - Students <photoforum@listserver.isc.rit.edu> Date: Wed, 03 Jul 2002 16:51:43 -0300 Subject: OT What in the hell is that $#*&*% knob for??? Be patient dear friends, I know that probabily this is not the correct forum for this question but it is driving me crazy and I do not have the guts for the nikon mailing list... I bought this 105mm micro nikkor manual focus AIS and it has a silver knob at one side. I turn it to the right and to the left and nothing happens. Some good soul could answer me what in the hell is that $#*&*% knob for??? To be a useful person has always appeared to me to be something particularly horrible. --Charles Baudelaire
