> Well this IS a wonderful day. Imagine the odds of not only finding the owner > but having him be a list member also Greg Nah, you are missing the point. This is not about common sense, it is about thinking. Part of that thinking for me is indeed "what are the chances?" The chances of them being a member of this list are of course astronomically small. The chances of someone on this list knowing the person might be small too, but I suspect somewhat greater than the chances of winning the lottery But if the film contains location shots, someone might recognise where, narrowing the search enormously. Once that is established, then a paper local to that are might be interested ... especially if there are people on it. How many print films are sold per year to how many photographers? Unlike digital protection schemes, this is not impossible. The other point Brian refers to is that the WEB is potentially much easier to search than local papers. Lets say I include all the details: ----------------------------- Being careful to include as many keyword combinations as possible Film Found Film Lost Film Tuesday 11th June 2002 at foot of hill near Ros Castle, Chillingham, Northumberland, UK ( Northumbria included because Google does not know about pseudonyms) Ross Castle is owned by the National Trust ( NT ) ( near Chillingham Wild Cattle Park ) The film: A FotoStop Film Colour Print Film 200 VXS 35mm iso 200 iso -------------------------- Now should anyone doing that tourist trail think to search in a few days - remember these messages are archived to Yahoo Groups and that Yahoo groups are indexed by google quite rapidly. There, I tried ;o) Bob
