FWIW, I did read some of that thread, and the point that seemed to me to possibly bring that situation within reach of a CoC was that the contributor was posting offensive-to-some views from an account that explicitly identified him as a core opal contributor. As such, it wasn't totally unreasonable to see him as representing the project in those statements.
