(the @ doesn't have to be there neccessarily. It switches off error reporting for that function call.) Additionally, you can search the php code for a call to the function error_reporting, which also controls, which error messages are reported and which not. In particular, a parameter value of 0 to this function instructs php to suppress all error output.
