I do not have an answer to that question. From the email, snippet sent below. It seemed the are completely removing the cert. It was sent in being of this year. It seemed like they were sending out to current holders a reminder that if you need to re-up your cert you need to do it by that date.

- If you currently hold this certification or plan to earn this certification, it will still be valid for 3 years from the date you earned the certification.

The AWS Certified Database specialist certification (DBS-C01) is
going away. I was notified I will not be able to renew mine after it expires in 2 years.

Are you referring to Database certification? Only certification RDS has a database implementation Specialist. That should suffice to show to the management.
