Hi, don't know what's happening on your system, it's too difficult to guess, but i can give you some hint: Use a boot-root couple of floppy to load a minimal linux and then mount your /dev/hdx to examine the logs (check /var/log/secure and /var/log/messages) and the correctness of the symlinks libpam.so.0 and libpam_misc.so.0 in /lib... You should be able to gain at least some info to solve or be helped to solve your problem... By Niko
