Hi, all,

I recently upgraded from Rh6.2 to RH7.1, BUT:

the gdm window will always kick me out even if I chose
the fail-safe option.

from /var/log/messages, I can see:
May 21 22:35:24 stag gdm(pam_unix)[1158]: session
opened for user ywangz by
(uid=0)
May 21 22:35:24 stag gdm[1158]:
gdm_slave_session_start: ywangz on :0
May 21 22:35:29 stag gdm(pam_unix)[1158]: session
closed for user ywangz
May 21 22:35:29 stag gdm[1158]:
gdm_auth_user_remove: /home/ywangz is
not owned by uid 0.
May 21 22:35:29 stag gdm[1158]:
gdm_auth_user_remove: Ignoring suspiciously
looking cookie file /home/ywangz/.Xauthority

My /etc/pam.d/gdm looks normal:
#%PAM-1.0
auth       required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so
service=system-auth
auth       required     /lib/security/pam_nologin.so
account    required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so
service=system-auth
password   required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so
service=system-auth
session    required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so
service=system-auth
session    optional     /lib/security/pam_console.so

If I switch to xdm whose pam config is the same as above, I could log in
successfully, so I am really confused. what am I missing, with gdm or
pam?

thanks a lot
