Well I put my face in it this time. I rechecked the LDAP server and
something is hosed. I verified that the pam module was indeed doing
it's job by puting the authorization information back into local files
and login worked just as it should...  sorry to have bothered anyone
with this.

Sorry if this as basic as they come but I am getting an error while
trying to
set up the pam_afs.so module. When I try to login using a know to be
good
user for AFS ( i can klog all day with it) I get the following
message...

setup like this.

auth    sufficient    pam_afs.so    use_first_pass    ignore_root
auth    optional      pam_unix.so

"Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info."

It sounds to me like the module is not talking to AFS correctly but I
have no
idea why.

I am using ldap for authorization via nsswitch.conf

i.e.

group:    files ldap
passwd:  files ldap

and I have verified that this does work. Anyone got any ideas?

Oh and I did look at the faq and manual, hopefully I am not blind.
