I've tried nntpcached on two FreeBSD server, the error is always the

And these two boxes run the same stable ?
yes.

Have you tried to recompile nntpcache ? If that solves your issue, I
assume there's some lib trouble somewhere. I'm quite new to nntpcache but
am familiar with freebsd-quirks since 2.2-7 :-P

I observe some radius-auth mentions: I do not employ radius. Maybe it's
related to that in combo with freebsd ?
I installed nntpcached from the port collection. I do not use radius. However the port's version of nntpcached is configured with "--with-authinfo-radius". If I manually remove this, nntpcached runs fine. It seems that you are right: nntpcache doesn't work on FreeBSD with radius-support enabled (at least, when radius isn't used)!

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

wiwi
