Hello.

I try to build a new kernel in Ubuntu 7.04.
I did "make", "make modules_install", "make install" successfully.
now i did "update-grub".

In fedora, this would be enough.
But now in Ubuntu, I see that there is no new initrd.img.

and indeed i can't boot into the new kernel.
Ubuntu kernel build scripts are little different. They dont behave the
way they do on Fedora.
better use the tried and trusted formula.
$ make
$ make install
$ mkinitramfs -o /boot/shining.img 2.6.xxyyz
$ manually edit grub.
$ Reboot and curse why there is disparity on how kernel should be
built across different distributions :-).[just jesting along]

Thanks
