hal / dbus / udev problem

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,
I am trying to get hal up and running, for which I
have done the following.

- i have 2.6 - test11 (sysfs is mounted)
- built dbus from cvs sources
- got the latest hotplug scripts from sourceforge
- built udev 012 with dbus support (using glibc, klibc
didnt work - linking seems to fail).
/proc/sys/kernel/hotplug has /sbin/udev
- built hal.

I have used the default prefixes (i.e, /usr/local)

I have dbus daemon, and hald running - hal device
manager shows the devices. Now, as I plug in and out a
USB mouse (a duplicate of what I normally use), I can
see the sysfs being updated, but I do not find any
entries being created in /udev. Also hal device
manager does not reflect these changes.

I would like to know where I might be going wrong. I
would be glad to provide more details which I might
have forgotten.

It seems udev is being invoked as I found by
replacing /sbin/udev with a shell script. My
understanding is udev when invoked sends a dbus
notification via the dbus daemon which is used by
hald. (Correct me if this is not the case).
