A performance win - no question there.

However, if you are writing and plan to distribute your own application
based on a Loadable Kernel Module, be forewarned that supporting all of the
RH kernels can be a chore. Compared to the standard linux.org kernel, RH
kernel fixes (same version per kernel macros (2.4.18) have meant at-will
kernel API changes and almost always require patch-specific re-compilations
for your LKM to work on each version.
