well, not quite... just the y in x.y.z-d indicates stabe/devel series. even
is stable, odd is devel, or the bleeding-edge version.

again, I don't think that's the case.... the -3 indicates that particular
vendor's version... the 3rd revision to the 2.4.18 release.
