True..but whether it takes account of the deleted inode information
if i remount the FS as ext2 from ext3?

ext3 disk layout is identical to ext2, e.g. you can mount the same
filesystem as either ext3 or ext2.

IOW, what works an ext2 filesystems should work on ext3 too.
