Unrelated to your problem:
It is probably not a good idea to use -vo sdl.
If you have a Nvidia card, install the latest binary driver and use -vo vdpau,
the useful alternatives are -vo gl and -vo xv.

Possibly related: This line looks suspicious (audio does not play). Are you sure
the file you chose (VIDEO_TS.VOB) contains the main movie?
Use ls -l /media/sr0/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB to find out (it's the largest file).
Or please try
mplayer dvd://
and
mplayer dvdnav://
