The problem is that the plugins run in the desktop process, and thus if
some plugin causes a segmentation fault, it takes down the whole
desktop. Old desktop versions caused a reboot when they crashed, but
from hildon-desktop 1:0.0.38-1 onwards there is so-called safe mode that
allows the desktop to be restarted with the default set of plugins. We
could maybe run some of the plugins in a separate process in the future.
That would prevent the desktop from crashing and would aid in
identifying and fixing the broken plugin. If someone has better
suggestions, please send me an e-mail :)
